Junior Golf Certification Requirements
Program Outline:
Junior golfers ages 8-11 must receive certification from the professional staff in order to play on the course. The certification consists of both a skills evaluation and a written test. Juniors with no golf experience must complete 10 hours of group instruction or 3.5 hours of private instruction. If the junior receives 6 hours of group instruction then he/she will be required to take 2.5 hours of private instruction as well from a certified instructor/professional. The skills evaluation will cover basic topics such as grip, stance, full swing, chipping, and putting. The written test will cover etiquette, rules, course marking, and care for the course. Upon successful completion of the certification, the junior golfer will be eligible to get a Town of Westport resident handpass. The certification will be done in a 45-minute lesson.
